Background persona

Located in New York, this person owns a popular night life destination that pays homage to 1920s speakeasies and design styles. Aims to provide a classy yet interesting atmosphere for guests, with appealing and funky furniture.

The owner finds it difficult to find furniture that not only serves as a seating option, but also a functional and eye-catching piece to influence the atmosphere of the establishment while using upcycled materials.

Design goals

  • Incorporate a material/focal element that initially held a different purpose

  • Keep the aesthetic of a dark/moody bar with function and practicality

  • Experiment with materials and forms (woodworking, welding, etc.)
